For three decades, Hospice of Palm Beach County has served the community as a leading provider of hospice and palliative care, never losing sight of its commitment to provide services to all those who turn to it for help regardless of their ability to pay. Your financial support over the years has been one of the major reasons we have been able to continue this philosophy of care.

Today's healthcare environment is changing, however. Not only have we become increasingly concerned about our ability to continue to maintain this commitment because of the declining reimbursement rates that are already negatively impacting our revenues, but it is also clear that our financial concerns of tomorrow are, in fact, the realities of today.

In an effort to proactively respond to this alarming change, Spectrum Health, Inc. - Hospice of Palm Beach County's parent organization - took a strategic step forward earlier this year and formally established Spectrum Healthcare Foundation. Created to serve as the organization's philanthropic arm, Spectrum Healthcare Foundation has adopted as its mission "to raise and manage funds to support the Vision and Mission of Spectrum Health Inc. and its subsidiaries through a comprehensive fundraising program." The Foundation's goal is to build an asset base substantial enough to positively impact the future of Spectrum Health, Inc., and particularly Hospice of Palm Beach County.

Fortunately, the Spectrum Healthcare Foundation begins its work with a substantial asset base - more than $85 million - which is the result of many years of wise fiscal management and strong philanthropic support. But with Hospice of Palm Beach County's current annual operating budget of more than $75 million, it only makes sense that this base needs to grow substantially - to more than $150 million - in order to ensure that the organization's commitment to providing access to quality healthcare for all will continue for decades to come.
